Precisely! I mean, it's okay to have a default setting that keeps the hardcore porn and the dogfighting books and the copies of Mein Kampf away from the kiddies. Seriously, I don't mind saying that books about how to really please the butch leather slave in your life are probably not for the eyes of 9-year-olds surfing the web. Just as I would think books that tell heterosexual couples how to spice up their sex lives aren't for children either.

I don't even mind if there are separate ranks for such books. Hell, I think it would be great to have separate rankings so that adult books don't have to compete with Twilight and Harry Potter for popularity!

And while I think flagging GLBT content as "adult" automatically when it's something as innocent as a biography of Ellen DeGeneres (seriously? How can you be more wholesome than Ellen?! It doesn't make sense!) is wrong, that's another issue.

Having filters is fine, just so long as people have the option of taking those filters off.
