Thank you so much--I love how you consider social and economic contexts, as well as hierarchies. And while I've never (nor has anyone I've ever read) said that artists must do X or Y, I think the basic fact is that artists in whatever genre or medium who fail to take contexts and histories and the relative imbalances of power involved in those areas of human experience into account tend to produce.....writing that fails to interest me in any way whatsoever.
