- I stand by my assertion. Outlines are like training bras. The more things develop, the less useful they become.

- My chapters are sponges. When left to themselves, they stack together in neat squares that fit neatly in my novel. Once I put 'em in water and start to write them? They blow up. And you should never build a house out of sponges.

- Hello to all the new people on the f-list.

- Hello to all the people who've been on the f-list for quite sometime.

- There are people who exist without this. Who live very happy, productive lives and never angst about novels or writing or characters or pretend things. There are people who don't ever write.

- Freaks.

- Everyone who's ever written a novel should get a prize. Because writing one is like climbing Mt. Everest in your shorts on a cold day. I don't care if it ever got published, if it was ever good. If you did it, if you told your tale and got to the end? You've earned my respect.

- Does anyone know any good writers I need to friend? Or any good feeds for writers?

- For that matter, does anyone have any recs (books, friends, music) for me? I could use 'em.
