I don't know if I've told you or not, but I really enjoy reading your book reviews.

And not just for the enjoyable manner in which you present your opinion of the books.

I enjoy that you look for things in your reading material that other people don't care about or that they take for granted. I love learning whether the characters are all white and/or stereotypical, or whether someone has actually created a world in which REAL PEOPLE exist.

Living in southern California, I can't help but write multi-cultural people into my novels. There are days when I hardly even see another white person. Why the heck would I want my novels to be all white?

Urban fantasy books seem to be the same thing over and over these days and the protagonists seem to get bitchier and bitchier. Why can't these women who write them understand that being a bitch is NOT the same thing as being a strong woman?

I know I'll never succeed as an urban fantasy writer because I cannot force myself to write things like this...and that seems to be what sells.
