To-do: think more about my Puritan heritage, literal (somewhere in the family tree I've got a Mayflower ancestor), cultural (I grew up one town over from Plymouth, Mass) and most especially religious. I'm a Lutheran now, but I grew up as -- and feel strong kinship with -- New England Congregationalism. Insofar as I identify with the United Church of Christ, the Puritans are my religious -- and spiritual -- ancestors. I'm going to have to think about that (and learn about it).
