I'd say, "Wow, there are white people who want to do that" - but that would be a lie. I am so NOT surprised by that and frankly, have come to expect it whenever the topic of race/racism comes up amongst fellow white people. Because I pretty much anticipate that they're going to be more focused on being comfortable than listening.

Still, anyone who thinks that making white people comfortable in discussions of racial oppression and racism should even be a priority much less a consideration gives me a migraine and makes me want to throw things. How does comforting the people who are part and parcel (witting or otherwise) of oppression FIX THE DAMN PROBLEM?

Answer: it doesn't. It just ensures that the people who are comfortable right now stay comfortable at the expense of others.

that was a wine bottle with "white women's tears" on it as this horrible awful terrible attack that just somehow proved how racist women of color (and the white women like myself who found it a wonderful deconstructive move) are.

LULZ, we're white people racist against other white people now. I find this amusing in the "wow, that's so sad I'm gonna laugh so I don't start grinding my teeth" sort of way.

Because of course, if someone says, "Hey, this thing you're doing is hurting me", they're obviously a bigot. *rolls eyes*

Reminds me a lot of when people started throwing around accusations that some of the people in the RaceFail discussions were acting "like abusers" when calling out people who failed epically.
