I realize there are plenty of valid criticisms of it - the commercialism, the sexism, etc. But I'm all about reclaiming holidays, traditions, and words, and I think the best way for me to feel validated by Valentine's Day is to just celebrate it my way.
Exactly. Reclaiming (if you even want to) is a good thing and I'm all for people doing what they want, but I also think it's good to remember that if some people complain or gripe or have a hard time on this day because it shoves things in their faces that are difficult for them all year long that the answer is not to make a big post about "waaahhh, you're spoiling the fun for those of us privileged enough to enjoy it!"
