And it's also completely annoying because it's a very subtle sign that not all readers should feel welcome or able to relate to a heroine in that text, because it's a way of flaunting wealth or at least class status, and there's no need for that.
Also, why are all vampires very rich? No one ever explains what it is that these vampires do to cultivate such wealth that they live in mansions and can do as they please. Don't vampires need jobs, too?
