Yeah, you'd think that more authors would understand this, because let's face it. Out of the thousands of us that even get published to begin with, a grand total of about ten (ie - JK Rowling, Stephen King) actually get rich. The rest of us have to keep our day jobs.

I haven't read the Mercy Thompson series yet, do you recommend it? Also, what issues do you have with Briggs? (I like to know these things ahead of time)!
