Was linked her by various sources, including ephemere, and just wanted to say thank you for writing this. Even if it provokes guilt and shame for the privileges so easily taken for granted, I think it's a lesson far more important than perpetuating the cultural mindset of forgetting past tragedies and assuming that a forgotten wound is just as good as a healed one - as if such things could really heal.
