I'm glad that you like the post, and while guilt and shame are natural and appropriate reactions at some points, I hope that's not all. Because the guilt and shame of oppressors doesn't help the oppressed until it becomes a resolve to change ways and lay down privilege.
Or: my white woman's tears will not wash away the blood, nor should it. That blood needs to remain visible. My hands and mouth and actions and words dismantling privilege and urging others to do the same will prevent there from being more, and that's what's important.
When I remind myself of my privileges and where they come from, it acts as filter to (hopefully) keep me from doing harm and to make me think of ways to do do better things that get better results.
