Interesting observation
Oct. 5th, 2007 09:36 amI've been quietly keeping track of any SF/F reads I see people reading on the subway/bus while I'm going back and forth to work and this week I have seen the following:
1. His Majesty's Dragon - Naomi Novik
2. Outlander - Diana Gabaldon
3. Red Mars - Kim Stanley Robinson
4. The Golden Compass - Philip Pullman
5. The Fiery Cross - Diana Gabaldon
6. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - JK Rowling
I don't know if Outlander is precisely SF/F. But I count it, because, *hey*. The heroine goes back in time. That gets a genre handwave from me, and gets to move along and go about its business, because these are not the droids I'm looking for.
Yes, number 2 and 5 were read by the same person. It's someone who rides my bus in the mornings. I've only noticed her because of the book.
