And it is interesting to think of how I'll never be discriminated against for my race, but I had a great-great grandma who suffered terribly for it.

Yeah, I find that kind of weird, too. That my grandfather took shit for what he was, but I'm so tighty whitey it's not even funny. I feel a little sad that I'm cut off from that, because even though I don't want to be one of those "I have MAJIKUL INDEEUHN BLUD!!!!" type folks, it is a part of his history and who he was, and I think he's the grandparent I know the least about. He was very self-contained, yanno. He didn't jabber a lot about himself (or anything). And it's so hard to get records from his family, because there aren't even really birth/burial records after a couple of generations.

Again, it doesn't make me Cherokee, but he is my family. Sometimes I miss him.
