I'm on the last page of my paper fiction journal. Weird thing is that even though I type all my stories and do most of my "writing" on the computer - the best thing for my writing is having a notebook in which to scribble out ideas.

Sometimes I think it's the visceral act of physically writing with pen/pencil and paper. It's like having a distraction without being distracted.

Plus, I'm such a paper geek.

Right now, I'm scanning all the online journal/stationery/office supply sites I can find for a new one.

Thing is, online they don't tend to tell you (especially for fancy journals) if the ruling is wide or narrow (college). In fact, sometimes they don't even really have that distinction.

Even when shopping in a store in real life, I have this issue. I'll see a journal that meets my size and binding requirements.

BUUUUUT it's got mega wide rule. So wide that you get maybe ten or twelve lines per page. And I hate that because I am *not* a small child who doesn't know how to write. I'm a very large child who's been writing for sometime now and would like smaller lines for both neatness and economy.

Still, there's something *quite* creativity-inspiring about pen and paper. Especially really fancy pen and paper. I got a nice pen as a gift for Christmas, and I swear it was more fun just to *outline* with the thing.

Le sigh.

But on the good news front, I'm totally half way though chapter 14. And I've been making great strides in the last few days, which considering the RL situation, is really surprising and a very good sign.

Oooh.

It's times like this that I miss Davis-Kidd with a profound sorrow. Did they or did they not have the *best* ever selection of journals, diaries, blank books, sketchbooks, and albums in like...Tennessee?

I'm glad at least there's one other person on Earth who remembers that joint.

You'll have to come up to NYC sometime and I'll take you to the Strand. As used bookstores go, it is teh_awesome. Or if you don't mind a couple of hours in a car, the Book Barn in Connecticut. Which is actually several smaller barns filled with books.

I shit you not. It's like a walking trail of every book ever. You could, quite possibly, spend a week and a small fortune there. :)

Still, it doesn't have the fireplace and the journal section and *wah*.

Also, I didn't thank you for the grad. present. ZOMG, how much do I love reading the awesomely badder first lines? You know me too well.
