It's strange how you can write a couple of thousand words of nebulous crap, and then discover that it only takes about 200 words to fix the entire thing and make it less than nebulous crap. It's like being able to fix a condemned house with a coat of paint.

But in writing, that's totally how it works.

I'm not throwing down a formal challenge today, even though I have a goal of somewhere in the 2000 - 3000 word range. The reason being that while a cerain amount of trudgery is necessary in writing, if you do nothing *but* trudge, then the story goes sour.

So after you ramp up and do a marathon of writing, you need to let the engines cool and slow down to make sure you still care about the story.

It's like dancing when they teach you the steps and they say, "quick, quick, slow". I've done the quick steps, time for the slow. But maybe tomorrow or the day after that, we'll get back to the quick parts.
