Refusing to feel even a little bad, 'cause I feel like I totally earned every one of those words and I will post what I'm writing now, 'cause it's the big Explain-O chapter and I need to know if it's interesting/understandable.

- Have inserted pretend exerpt from children's book into actual novel. Even my *pro* fic goes cracktastic. Although trying to write in the style of a children's book brought up interesting issues of how I write normally and how low a reading level a lot of novels seem to have.

- Rereading American Gods, jealousing all the way through

- Only 4 pages left in my paper fiction journal. *sadness*. It's been with me since january and I got it for like three bucks. The investment has paid dividends and I can now allow myself a *new* fic journal.

- I like my layout a lot better. I think my header kicks ass. Does anyone know of any other LJ styles for free users that allow headers *besides* 3 Column?

Yeah!! Amazingness, wonderful, beautiful writing productivity, deserving of many, many kudos. Please, please post the story so far.

I love the little word-counter bar thingee too, BTW.

American Gods was good, but I liked Neverwhere a lot better. American Gods seemed to me to be a great novel, with an excellent novella inexplicably inserted three-quarters of the way in (the detour into the story about the town and the drownings). By the time we got back to the ending to the novel, I'd forgotten who some of the other characters were, what they were trying to do, and the impact of the ending (which would otherwise have been quite good) was therefore diluted.
